145 ACCIDENTS IN A WEEK (12/5/2010) The weekly statistics released by the Directorate General of Traffic show that 145 road accidents took place in Oman between April 24 and 30.Of these, 80 were collisions, 34 were collisions with fixed objects, 17 were due to the driver losing control over the vehicle and 14 were run-overs.
Fifteen people died and 182 were injured. The most serious accident took place when two cars collided in the wilayat of Dhank. One died and five were injured.
The ROP has called upon motorists to avoid using mobile phones while driving.
