Issuance of identity card (ID) for the first time

Every Omani citizen who is above fifteen (15) years of age must apply for an ID. This is obligatory for males, and optional for females.

Those who are below 15 may obtain an ID conditional on their legal guardian's consent.

  • Applicant must appear in person if they are.
  • Applicant must appear with their legal guardian if he/she is below 15.
  • Applicant must appear in person.
  • Copies and original of applicant's passport.
  • If the applicant doesn’t have a passport, he or she must bring:-
  • Original birth certificate .
  • Original of the parents' ID cards or passports.

(Note):

Where the legal guardian will not appear with a below-15 applicant, a letter of non-objection from the guardian and copy of their ID are needed.

  • If above 15, the applicant must appear in person at the civil status offices.
  • If below 15, the applicant must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
  • Bring the required documents.
  • RO (6) for first-time issuance.
